Many dentists struggle with conventional C&B impressions and are waiting for that perfect digital scanner that’s reasonably priced. Of course, this would only make sense if the digital impression was in fact consistently better that the conventional one. For many years, the leader in the market has been CEREC because of its single appointment application, but since not every dentist enjoys the laboratory work associated with this technique, most opted to stick to PVS impressions.
The Cadent iTero scanner is making some noise, with some studies showing highly acceptable results with slightly less chair side adjustment times. Since both of these products have not yet shown to be far superior to PVS impressions, most dentists that I have interviewed feel that these reasons are still not strong enough to warrant the investment in a digital scanning machine.
I’d like to hear additional perspectives from the @Docs Community.
